CANCEL SERVICE
How does one cancel their service when nobody can seem to help?? I've been calling, chatting etc and I keep getting transferred from person to person. This has got to be thee worse company I have ever dealt with. All they are doing is prolonging me so they can try and charge me fees for early termination and that frickn box they sent. I'm not having it!! My service should have been canceled back in June!

Since you mention early termination fee, are you referring to DIRECTV STREAM or DIRECTV satellite? The technique to get sent to retention is by telling the robot ‘cancel’. The average oversea agent will have difficulty solving your request in a timely manner. They often try to ‘escalate’ the issue with no success.

DIRECTTV STREAM. Let me explain further. They had a young man out and about trying to get our neighborhood to switch to DIRECTTV STREAM & INTERNET. We listened to his selling tactics and we asked MANY questions. Number one on my questions list was: Can we cancel at anytime without early termination fees etc. His answer was YES. He did not say we only had a certain amount of days to cancel without any fees. He said we could cancel the services at any time! So now since the end of June I've been trying to cancel with no luck.

There is absolutely no termination fee for DIRECTV STREAM, that only applies to the satellite service DIRECTV. The only money you owe is for the DIRECTV STREAM Osprey Box if you decided to lease it and/or pay for it monthly.
However, AT&T internet may have an early termination fee. For more info, I suggest you go to the AT&T Community Forums. Since this is DIRECTV Community Forums, we only deal with DIRECTV and DIRECTV STREAM.

How do I cancel the service then? Nobody seems to be able to do that for me.

Thank you for commenting! Unfortunately, I was never told that the box is leased and that I would be responsible for returning it within a 14 day period. The young man told me that there wasn't any charge for the box beside the initial $6.00+ fee that was charged to my credit card. Now I'm not sure if they have totally trained their hired people to know exactly what the terms & conditions are & how they should be presented and explained to a potential Client, but in all honestly, I wasn't explained much at all. The only emphasis he placed on was there wouldn't be a price increase as long as I remained a subscriber. It was somewhat "scammish" as he was very insistent that I had to sign up before any channel list was given etc. I should have went with my gut and not signed up!! Too much of a pressure tactic without any information to go off of. Color me stupid! All I want to do is cancel this flipping service!

What "box" did you get? The C71K DirecTV Stream box costs $120 if paid up front, or $5/mo for 24 months. Not sure what the $6 charge would have been for.
You can cancel online via your DirecTV Stream account .... www.directv.com
